Why do you need to look at acousitcs?
Why do you need to look at acousitcs?

We so often go into harsh and less than ideal environments to record audio, we will be using the best audio kit in the land, the best microphones, the best state of the art solid state or hard disk recorders, but we are let down by room acoustics.

As you walk around any room you will find peaks in mid-high range frequencies and often an uneven base repsonse. These charectaristics may be the result of reflections off glass or other hard surfaces on the walls or floor, or a simple function of the volume of the room.

The following kit is portable, it can be taken to a location and set up quickly, or simply used in a studio, small or large, at home or professionaly.

Peakulizer Pro - Portable Vocal Shield
Peakulizer Pro - Portable Vocal Shield

We are constantly faced with the same problem of square rooms, or hard surfaces, with poor acoustics, making vocal recording a real nightmare!

Most people will draw the curtains, hang up a duvet or construct a make shift recording booth to achieve a clean, dry vocal sound.

Few will have the luxury of a dedicated vocal booth. What is needed is a quick, reliable and cost effective solution. Something that can be erected within minutes, and then packed away when not needed. Something that is lightweight, yet sturdy, but which remains stable on all kinds of microphone stands.

The Peakulizer Pro is just that - a portable microphone isolator, for recording vocals or live sound sources for reduced room ambience.

Peakulizer Mini - Mini Microphone Shield (Pair)
Peakulizer Mini - Mini Microphone Shield (Pair)

It uses the same dual layer foams with a simplified clamping system. Designed to be clamped onto an existing boom stand, making it ideal for over head drum microphones and other instrument mic applications, where the Peakulizer Pro may be too big. It also features an elongated centre slot to accommodate a pencil microphone.

Specification

Constructed from the same black powder coated aluminium and dual density acoustic foam as the Peakulizer Pro. Simplified clamping system with fixed shield. Elongated centre slot.

Silent Peaks T-Bass - Pyramid corner bass traps (Pair)
Silent Peaks T-Bass - Pyramid corner bass traps (Pair)

Standard acoustic tiles and panel absorbers are truly only effective at mid to high frequencies. Low end frequencies have very long wavelengths and something more efficient is needed to absorb these frequencies.

Bass traps are an absolute necessity in any room used for recording, and especially mixing and mastering.

Most of these frequencies tend to build up in the corners of a room, thus we have corner base traps. Many people place large triangular blocks of foam in the corners, but for those of you who have small project studios/control rooms etc this may not be a practical solution.

Silent Peaks have developed a small but efficient corner pyramid bass trap. Just drop these into the corners of your floor and ceiling and they will soak up that unwanted low end and give you a more defined and tighter bass.

Silent Peaks T-Bass is the ideal partner for the Panel Traps 610

SPK Isolator - Speaker stability and isolation (Pair)
SPK Isolator - Speaker stability and isolation (Pair)

If you place your speakers on your desk you have probably noticed the bass frequencies vibrating through your desk.

Not only does this colour the sound but some of the bass energy absorbed by the desk reduces the bass response.

Most people will use the foam pads that are commercially available but those are still not good enough. Some people will use foam bonded to heavy steel plate covered with a nonslip surface.

This is were Silent Peaks differ from any other manufacturer! They use rubber as our main isolator, along with high density foam and a thin steel plate to keep it together.

These three components added together give the speaker stability and isolation of the transmitted energy, giving a more precise stereo image. This enabled us to achieve a 10 star rating in a recent music tech magazine award.

Put your hands on the desk and feel the difference. Close your eyes and hear the difference.
