Ambient Dipstick Articulated Boom Segment

Price: £132.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)

Ambient Dipstick Articulated Boom Segment

The Dipstick is an addon accessory for our booms (or any one elses) and although only 60 cms long allows an ENG recordist to boom over the head of a cameraman or round corners allowing one to get near the action.

The toothed flange can be set to any angle and once locked will not turn. The Dipstick can can be folded back on the boom or removed when not required. Note that the Dipstick requires a Quicklok for a completely rigid but quickly removable joint.

Quicklok Quick Release Tip

Price: £88.50 (Excluding VAT at 20%)

Quicklok Quick Release Tip

The Ambient “QuickLok” quick release tip for microphone assemblies is the first snap connection noise-free enough to allow for professional boom action and similar applications.

The body of the QuickLok mounts onto the 3/8” thread of a microphone boom or stand and is secured in place via a grub screw. The tip fits into the mike support and can be tightened securely using a screwdriver or similar through a cross hole. The ingenious mechanism with tapered design provides a rigid, absolutely rattle free joint and has a self locking and self locating action.

This universal piece will find its place not only on location, but also in music recording studios for quick disassembly of rigs, microphones, antennas and more.

Ambient Floater

Price: £130.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)

Ambient Floater

One of the biggest problems facing sound recordists is the transmission of handling noise to the microphone with ensuing low frequency noise on the recording.

This problem increases with the use of Zeppelin type windshields which are not themselves soft suspended but are screwed to the boom directly. The Floater is especially useful when booming with stereo mics or an M/S pair where noise pickup is enhanced by the side mic.

The Floater acts as an acoustic decoupler between boom or stand and the mic support assembly blocking handling noise.

The Floater is constructed of ABS plastic and aluminium and contains up to 4 specially constructed weather resistant rubber ring membranes The construction is very light and the user can reconfigure the unit himself with the use of only a screwdriver and hex ring spanner.

The Floater can be configuered in 4 flavours by the user or by Ambient, to fit the different weights of mic assembly used, by adding or removing membranes.

The Floater kit contains a Floater configured in medium unless otherwise required and an extra two membranes plus a Uniflange for mounting as near to the windshield as possible.

A 3/8th inch stud and collar enables the direction of the Floater to be reversed making it function as a hand grip with soft suspension. Using stretch Velcro ribbon the XLR connector can be bound to the Floater. With all these pieces the Floater is a very versatile accessory.

Twister Stereo Swivel

Price: £85.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)

Twister Stereo Swivel

The Twister has two angles of rotation allowing the mike assembly to be adjusted horizontally whatever the angle of the boom. When booming with a stereo mike it is essential to have the microphones horizontal to give correct left right perspective.

QAVS - Mic Link, Vertical Swivel

Price: £72.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)

QAVS - Mic Link, Vertical Swivel

This swivel is used for mike assemblies which are suspended from a boom such as the Jumbo series.

It ensures that the mike assembly always levels out horizontally independent of the angle the boom is set at. When the boom is vertical the MikeLink prevents the microphone assembly from contacting the boom and thus making noise.

It also allows the microphone position to be set up at ground level and then be swung up into position.
