Ambient Clockit Timecode Products

The Master Slate is now in its third version and can be delivered with or without a built in radio link to a timecode source.

The slate has many sophisticated features including different display modes, timecode error checker, battery voltage readout, flashing superbright Leds on close and a switchable display delay of plus or minus up to 7 frames. Some users have been known to use the small green LED to mark zero frame on Telecine.

The super bright leds can now be switched to flash on frame 00 as well, improving the visibilty of the transition. The unit has a lasercut display mask to improve contrast, a special clapstick with thumb hole and a reflective slide on writing shield.

For night work the blue LED mini torch supplied will light up the slate at distances of up to 100 meters if shone from near the camera axis. A new yellow flourescent reflective material on the clapstick makes the slate easy to see even on a dull day.

The Master Radio Slate has a built in UHF telemetry receiver and a transmitter unit in a heavy duty aluminium box, for wireless transmission of timecode.

Range is typically 50 metres, but in certain circumstances, can be much greater. Frequencies of 418 MHz and 433 MHz can be fitted. Otherwise the radio slate is identical to the master slate.

The ACL 204 constitutes the archetype of a new generation of Clockit devices.

Carefully listening to the hands-on experience of customers Ambient have further added functionality making this the most sophisticated portable time code sync box ever built. Going well beyond the already comprehensive capabilities of its predecessor the ACL 204 not only covers all existing TC and Sync formats but now for the first time allows to apply a generator offset to compensate the dreaded processing delay of typically 2 frames experienced on some file based HD cameras.

Dual TC I/O and a Sync output that can be switched in power mode to drive the load of 2 cameras assure a compact and clutter less experience on any 3D rig.

To accommodate for all this the hardware has been completely revised into a flexible, fully programmable FPGA architecture. A front loaded OLED display will give instant visual feedback about the current configuration and assist while moving through the menu to make adjustments. This is now done on the fly with an easy to operateone-finger navigation system - no more need for screwdrivers or powercycling the unit.

An intelligent algorithm will prevent configuration of improper, mismatched TC and Sync rates or unintended alterations to the setup.

Still being a simplistic TC and Sync box at the core driven by 2 AA cells in the familiar rugged footprint the ACL 204 can be considered the pinnacle of portable synchronization.

SUPPORTED SETTINGS:

A whole set of features such as time code, wordclock, MIDI TC and GPS capability makies the ACC501 a sort of timecode swiss army knife!. An extensive keypad and miniature graphic display with command and menu bars ensure an intuitive but comprehensive user interface. The Ambient Time Code Link is a transceiver module.
The module can be configured to be either Transmitter (LED lights up green) or Receiver (LED lights up red). There is a sliding switch inside the battery compartment to change the configuration.

Switch towards outside = transmitter, towards inside = receiver.

Note This is a great partner when shooting with the Sound Devices 7-series digital recorders, or the 552 mixer (with the latest firmware). These recorders can be set to go into record automatically when they sense that the Record Run TC starts up. In this instance the radio link system would be invaluable in not missing a record cue and allowing production to satisfy their desire to have Rec Run timecode instead of Time of Day timecode as is so often the case.
