Compact, Linear Fader Controller with Enhanced Monitoring

The CL-9 is probably the most long awaited product ever from Sound Devices. It will extend the 788T to become a complete mixer & recording system for features/drama or music location recording.

We first saw the prototype for this last year, and judging by the questions we get asked almost on a daily basis by the best 'ears' in the trade, and the features that are packed into the CL-9, we know that there will be quite a demand for this new addition to the 788T family.

The ATC Umbilical carries stereo audio to the camera on balanced XLRs, a 3.5mm stereo jack camera return to the 788T and a TC feed.

The camera return will regrettably take up one or two inputs on the 788T, but these can be de-selected from the mix/multi-track (but you might have wanted to record your stereo mix to disk anyway). Monitoring the return is as simple as selecting the appropriate input.

The CL-8 is a powerful mixing control surface for Sound Devices 788T recorder. Its large rotary faders and push buttons bring extensive mixer-type control to 788T inputs. The lightweight CL-8 can used either mounted or remote from the 788T.

The CL-8 features eight large, rotary faders to control levels of input-to-master-track (L, R) and input-to-aux-track levels (post-fade). With its tactile buttons, control over each input’s high-pass filter, limiter, polarity, mute status, and routing is quick with visual indication on the CL-8 front panel. The CL-8 provides shortcuts to route inputs to the left/right mix tracks and Aux1 and Aux2 tracks.

The CL-8 firmware adds additional record tracks to the 788T. These new tracks can be monitored in headphones, recorded, and routed to 788T outputs.

The (AR-788/CL8) case holds Sound Devices 788T and CL8 the way you want it.

The CL-8 can be positioned top or bottom, with room for your NP1 style (or similar sized battery) stored neatly below the CL8 using the black folding interior compartment. Use adhesive backed Hook fastener (Velcro) to hold the battery box or adapter firmly inside the folding interior compartment. Three fabric covered foam blocks support (and protect the CL8 cable) the unit and various size standard batteries that connect to the bottom of the 788T.

Balance the equipment perfectly by choosing the right series of rings for your personal rig. The protective rain boot seals around XLR cables or folds neatly open. Flaps for the other openings do the same. The clear vinyl window zips on/off or rolls up (and can be fitted front or back fastened).

The CS-5 is a high-quality production case for Sound Devices 552 Field Mixer, 788T, or 788T/CL-8 combo. Designed and built for Sound Devices by Camrade, the CS-5 has a mixer/recorder compartment plus an integrated accessory compartment sized for wireless transmitters, receivers, mixers or portable recorders. Additionally, there is a lower compartment suitable for an NP-type battery. The CS-5 also includes a bottom-side access door to exchange recording media on the 552 mixer and 7-series recorders.

The CS-5 can be used over the shoulder with the included padded shoulder strap and can connect to third-party accessory cases. Additionally, Sound Devices CS-W can be attached to the CS-4 for additional wireless systems.

Remote Fader Controller for 788T Recorders

The CL-2 Remote Fader Controller adds a remote level control to any 788T input with its 30mm linear fader. Additionally, its two, two-position programmable toggle switches can be assigned device control or activate menu selections.

The Cl-2 can be mounted directly to a boom pole with the included fasteners, or can be placed on the sound cart or held in hand. Its three status LED's indicate record status, record media readiness, and power. Common uses for the switches include remote-record control, tone activation, PFL activation of an input, and playback control.

The CL-2 is connected to the 788T using its C. Link connection via the included 1.8-meter flexible cable.

All control and setup of the CL-2 is accomplished in the 788T recorder Setup Menu.

This is a custom made umbilical to allow the 788T to be used as a location mixer when recording onto DigiBeta etc.

It carries balanced audio to the camera on XLR, has a 3.5mm stereo monitor return and TC

The connectors for the mixer/recorder end are TA3 and 5pin-lemo for time code.

When you use this cable you can still work as you normally would sending a stereo mix to camera but multi-track all of your sources to disk at the same time.

The only drawback is that you will need to sacrifice 1 or 2 inputs on the 788T for your camera return, but you might want to use those tracks to keep a backup of your mix anyway!

This cable opens up the possibility of a complete new way of working when shooting single camera on location - we are sure you will be blown away with the possibilities!

A portable 4 Track hard disk recorder with built in time code generator. Very well built for mobile documentary or drama recording with very comprehensive features accessed via an easy to use menu system. (The word "intuitive" is often bandied about in sales literature and is not always justified. It is here.)

The 722 has the same high quality mic. input amplifiers as the 744 but has no timecode capability and has only 2 tracks making it an ideal replacement for a location DAT recorder. Supplied with one rechargeable battery pack and power supply/charger.

The 702/702T are the latest products from Sound Devices. These two-track machines record to removable Compact Flash cards, weigh about two pounds and are powered from standard Li-on camcorder batteries or external 10-18 V dc. Give me a call to talk about a package to include bag, cables etc.
